Featured Dog: Nina- GBNF

Once in a while the shelter takes in dogs that have been rescued by animal control officers. In this case, meet Nina, a silver-gray and white pitbull mix with very sweet eyes.

Nina enjoys a chin scratch.

She was originally thought to be heavily pregnant because of her protruding belly but was found to be just severely malourished. Despite her rough past and her initial tentativeness, this girl has been nothing but sweet from day one. And she has been responding to kindness and food very well — her physical health is excellent, and she is one of the gentlest dogs I have ever walked. In fact, when we walk, it’s like we’ve done this forever and not just occasionally. For a girl with a hard past, she gets comfortable very easily. She also looks back to ‘check in’ with you, almost as if she can’t believer her luck.

Did I also mention that she is housetrained and accepts treats nicely?

And that she loves receiving physical affection? And is oh so still (but clearly enjoying herself) while you pet her?
Nina loves to be petted.

A few words from Nina:
Just look at her eyes.
“Can you tell in my eyes that I would love to be your best friend?”

Nina lives in Kennel 8.
