It’s a little hard to see Dennis sometimes because he’s mostly furry and black and isn’t the most striking dog in the shelter. He is, however, one of the calmest and sweetest dogs I’ve met, more so because of his circumstances. He was surrendered to the shelter for reasons that were not his fault. In fact, I can’t find a single fault with him, except that maybe when he sits on my lap, I feel like taking a nap along with him!
Dennis is a cocker spaniel (appears to be a purebred) and is about 5 yrs old. He’s very housetrained (his foster mom reports that he lets her know when he has to go out), considerate, loves toys but is past the puppy stage, and has medium energy levels (he’d be fine with walks and an occasional run, but doesn’t need more than that). He’s fine with other dogs and very polite with them, but doesn’t engage with them (i.e. invite them to play, being social all the time). Mostly, he would like to have a favorite person to call his own so he can snuggle and be a lapdog. If you are more of a people person, Dennis would be an excellent companion since he is very friendly with everyone.
So if you’re looking for an adult, calm, well-established dog, consider Dennis. He’ll also make an excellent first dog– don’t let his older age discourage you– and would be great at showing inexperienced dog owners the “ropes” of dog ownership. 🙂
Dennis is currently in FOSTER CARE. To see him, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and a visit.
