Puppy Friday: Desmond – ADOPTED!

Desmond

Desmond is probably my current favorite puppy at the shelter. I first met him when he was still with his brother, Dexter, who has been adopted. They made a great pair and you can see a photo of them here.

This little guy is roughly 3-4 months old and looks to be a lab mix. For a little puppy, he’s a little serious, probably because his brother was the more confident one while he was the “worrier.” Nevertheless, he’s honed that into being quite attentive and intelligent. For example, I thought he sat frequently during his walks because he was nervous about something, but after two days of this, I realized that he wouldn’t move unless I gave him a treat or a bellyrub. I think it’s fair to say that he’s figured out how to use his cuteness to his advantage!

See if you can resist him– I couldn’t!

The last photo is of him jumping- he sometimes breaks out of his ‘sit’ by jumping into the air, but he doesn’t do it very often. Because he loves to please and is very food motivated, he’ll be a highly trainable puppy. He also loves playing with his toys and seems to get along with other dogs (would probably be best with an easygoing non-dominant dog).

He really is as sweet as he looks, and if you’re like me and couldn’t resist him, please visit him in Kennel 28. For more information on Desmond, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
