Featured Dog: Jolene – ADOPTED!

I had a hard time believing that this dog is only 6 months old! (Hopefully, this is her fullgrown size, with maybe 10 lbs added on, but you never know…) I had a harder time believing how polite Jolene is when I walked her. She’s excellent on the leash, knows ‘sit’ and while she can be unsure of things, is ready to follow you as soon as you reassure her.

On top of that, she has the cutest snout I’ve seen, probably from her shar-pei background. She loves her toys and other dogs (especially if they are polite) and will be very trainable, as she is very eager to please.

If you are interested in Jolene, please visit her in Kennel 44. For more information on Jolene, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.

I just found your blog, and I think it’s wonderful what you are doing! I tend to watch the typical lost and found animal websites, and have been successful in reuniting many stray dogs taken to Wake County animal shelter with their owners. I was wondering if the dogs you feature here are dogs that have been surrendered, or strays, or both? It would be wonderful if that bit of info could be included, that way I could match up even more lost dogs with their owners 🙂 Keep up the good work!

The dogs that I blog are only a fraction of the dogs that are at Durham County Animal Shelter. They’re the ones listed for adoption after being on hold for 3-5 days to allow strays time to be found by their owners. If you are looking for a dog who is lost, please contact the shelter directly; they’ll have more information about the dogs they have there.
