Featured Dog: Malachi – ADOPTED!

Malachi

Who’s this dog that’s looking positively autumnal? That would be Malachi, a 18 months old lab mix who is very goofy!

What, you don’t believe me? How about this?

Malachi

Or this?

Malachi

Believe it or not, Malachi wasn’t always this way. He came to the shelter in horrific conditions- he was very underweight, highly anxious, and didn’t know what to do with other dogs. In short, it sounds like he was neglected, and now, with the help of the shelter staff and volunteers, he’s learning and experiencing the good life.

Malachi

Other than being goofy, Malachi is very trainable (he loves food treats) and responds very well to kind handling (he loves it when you gush over him). He’s getting used to the idea of affection in form of leaning and petting, and already he’s grasped the art of pleading with his eyes.

Malachi would love a home to call his own where he can continue this new life of being pampered (and fed)! He would love to go to obedience classes, both for training and socialization. Because of his rough past, he would do better in a home without any other dog (or has a very patient and mellow female dog) until he builds up his canine social skills. He would also love to have a consistent exercise routine (he’s very energetic).

If you would like to help Malachi continue his good life, please come see him in Kennel 26. For more information on him, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
