Rufus is such a great dog to walk at the shelter- he may look big but he’s actually very calm on the leash and walks very nicely. He is under a year old, so he has some puppy exuberance (mostly jumping in air when he’s happy), but he’s mostly full grown. HIs coat is a handsome Catahoula mix of black, steel blue, cream, and tan. He’s also got a face that’s very forgivable when he gets into a bit of trouble.
He also has a great ‘sit’ and has improved his self control (he’s doing longer sits and doing them more often without asking) since then. He’d be a great dog to train- I’ve been teaching him ‘down’ which he’s doing very nicely.
Rufus is also known for his love of toys. He really, really likes them and will play with them on his own. He would most likely appreciate a big fenced yard where he can run, jump in air, and play with his toys.
However, Rufus does not get along with male dogs, so maybe he’d be best with a playful female dog if you plan on acquiring Rufus as your second dog. He would also be fine as an only dog, provided he gets much-needed canine socialization (easily remedied in obedience school). He’d also make a wonderful jogging or hiking partner.
