Featured Dog: Skye – ADOPTED!

One of the nice things about winter is that light becomes different, even precious during the day, and I had the pleasure of photographing Skye in the waning light. Given her leopard coat and striking eyes, she really shone during our encounter.

Skye has particularly remarkable eyes, a two-color shading that is distinctive in Australian shepherds.

(This is her National Geographic shot!).

Despite her eyes, her coating looks more like a Catahoula dog rather than an Aussie Shepherd. It is, however, very smooth and soft, but shorthaired and not fluffy like a collie’s.

She is a little shy right now, but warms up very easily when she knows you’re friendly and offer her treats. Her favorite thing, however, is being your lapdog. She really loves being snuggled and seems to feel more secure when you hug her.

Skye is working on her confidence, and we’ll update you when we find out how she does with other dogs, but for now, she seems to be a very sweet girl who just needs kindness and love to blossom into a quiet but self-assured girl.
