Featured Dog: Gwen – ADOPTED!

If you think this dog is a little shy, you’re right. That would be Gwen, a Basset/Pit mix, who’s under a year old (or so).

Despite her shyness, Gwen loves people and can be very sweet. I could not get photos of this time when she sat on my lap, rolled around, and then leaned against me as hard as she could as if she was afraid I’d go away. Just trust me when I say that she’s very affectionate, and would probably be a wonderful lapdog.

She wasn’t really sure about the camera, either, but she’s pretty good at facing her fears. She was originally found hiding in the bushes at the shelter and she’s come a very long way. If you ask me, I think she’s very happy that someone’s taking care of her and feeding her and giving her the love that she needs.

Gwen is also very interested in food treats, so she shouldn’t be a problem to train. We worked on her sit and I got this:

Pretty good, no? She’d love to go to obedience school- it’d boost her confidence!

Gwen also loves lying down on grass and doing absolutely nothing but getting bellyrubs and a nice warm tan. I even have proof of this:

“Why am I getting so sleepy?”

“The grass feels sooooo good on my tummy”

“So that’s a “down,” huh? You got another treat for me?”

“So sleepy. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz”

Gwen is also good with other dogs, and would make a lovely addition to a family.

If Gwen has impressed you, please come visit her in Kennel 30. For more information on Gwen, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
