Puppy Friday: Donovan – ADOPTED!

Meet Donovan, a 4 months old lab/hound mix puppy! He’s come a long way from being a shy puppy to one of the most cuddlesome!

He’s also a happy, eager-to-please guy who also loves playing with toys and is already a pro at ‘sit.’ He would love to go to obedience school and learn all the new tricks.

Donovan would be a great first or second dog, and he gets along well with other dogs. To visit Donovan, please come see him in Kennel 4- he currently resides with his brother Cosmo.

I am in the process of adopting Donovan. I’ve visited him several times over the last two weeks and have fallen in love with him. His new name is Wally. We adopted our beloved “Penny” from the Durham shelter in 1993. She was the most perfect dog. She passed away in November 2010, and I still miss her. Our second dog was a sheltie that gave us 10 wonderful years of love and devotion until he developed liver cancer. Putting him to sleep was the most difficult and painful experience of my life. It was so painful that we considered not owning another dog, but like the old adage says, “time heals all wounds”. We waited 5 months until we saw Wally aka Donovan. We knew we had met the new member of our family. He will never replace the Penny and Lacie, but he already has a special place in our heart. We cannot wait to bring him home.
