Featured Dog: Arnold – ADOPTED!

Arnold

This happy cutie is a 2 year old beagle named Arnold. He can be a little shy at first, but warms up very readily when he realizes that you could be his best friend!

Arnold

Most beagles I have worked with are very active sniffers, and by that, I mean, they like to sniff every 5 seconds (or rather, every 5 short steps). They generally are not interested in people unless there is food on offer or when there is nothing more to sniff out. Oddly (or maybe luckily for you), Arnold does not have this trait. He will sniff, and he loves hot dog treats, but he is really happy partially sitting on your lap and being stroked or curling up next to you.

Arnold

I actually had to remind him to sit for a treat, because he really wanted to sit in my lap and be fed treats Roman-style. He has a great ‘sit’ and does a wonderful job listening, and was very happy when he learned that there was some major petting offered after treats.

See? If you need more photos of him being really happy (it was quite a joy to see a dog so enthusiastic!) here you go:

I am not sure whether Arnold likes toys, but he does get along well with other dogs- I’m sure he’ll perk up once he finds that he has playmates! Mostly, I think he’ll be thrilled when he has a lap of his own and an endless supply of cuddles and treats.

If you are interested in this sweet boy, please come see him in Kennel 18. For more information on Arnold, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org
