Featured Dog: Gareth – ADOPTED!

Oh! Who’s this happy dog here? That would be Gareth, a 1-2 year oldish lab mix. He wasn’t always this jolly looking- he was actually frightened to get out of his kennel, even when I reassured him with belly rubs and hot dog treats.

While he may find shelter life worrying, he certainly has no problems warming up to people! His favorite activity is to lean on people and get them to pet him. He loves being hugged and touched and making you laugh as his antics.

I’m not sure, but I think it was a while before I could get up! It was very hot outside, but neither of us minded too much. If you’re looking for a loveable dog, Gareth is your guy! It may take a while for him to regain his trust and confidence, but a good routine and some obedience training should help. Oh, and he already knows ‘sit’ and does it like a pro.

Can you resist him when he looks like that? If not, you can visit him in Kennel 47. For more information on Gareth, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.

I met Gareth this Saturday. He is simply gorgeous, and very sweet. He’s on my short list for fostering if no one picks him, but I’m guessing someone will fall for him soon.

He would be a great foster! Just be prepared not to do anything for a while as he LOVES sitting on your feet! 🙂

We are picking Gareth up today to see if he can get over his fear once he’s out of the shelter.

Gareth has been at our house for 2 days and has been absolutely delightful. He’s definitely wary but learns very quickly and has overcome his fear coming into the house from the backyard. Gareth is so sweet, loves our dog and now eagerly greets the rest of us whenever he sees. He now plays with all kinds of toys when he’s not lolling around, nuzzling, or playing with our dog.
