Featured Dog: Dakota – ADOPTED!

This happy smiling girl is Dakota, a 5 months old shepherd/hound mix. She’s technically a puppy and lots of puppy energy.

She is very food motivated, though, and attentive, so she is practicing self restraint and other good manners after a long walk and an equally long play session.

You can tell from her big smile and wagging tail that she really enjoys her training!

She is not quite leash-trained yet (she would much rather run around you), but she’s learning with help of numerous treats. She should be a star pupil in obedience school.

Dakota is also very easygoing- she likes to be hugged and petted.Dakota

Sometime she forgets her lessons and does a little funny lip-smacking dance instead. Mmmmm, treats!

Here are some photos of Dakota playing fetch:

She would probably love to go to the dog park and play with other dogs for a long, long time!

If you are interested in Dakota, please come visit her in Kennel 12. For more information, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
