Featured Dog: Homer – ADOPTED!

When I first met Homer, he had a shy sign on his kennel. To my surprise, he immediately greeted me with a rapid tail wag, and he was almost delirious when he discovered I had a pouch of hot dogs just for him. 🙂 Homer is definitely a little cautious at the shelter, but once he goes out, you can tell that he really enjoys his walks and socializing with volunteers. According to his point of view, there is so much to sniff, and so many treats to eat!

Homer is around 2 years old and appears to be a purebred beagle. Being typical of his breed, he likes to sniff and romp around. However, he is also very affectionate, and actually likes being on your lap and be hugged.

Sometimes he will even give kisses. I think he feels secure somehow being in someone’s arms.

He also loves treats, and should be fairly easy to train since he is very food motivated.

He also loves to play with toys and balls, and is good with other dogs. He’s going to be a fun dog to have as a second dog, or to take to the dog park, or on long hikes.

If you can give Homer the loving home he needs, please visit him in Kennel 40. For more information on Homer, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
