Featured Dog: Marcus – ADOPTED!

This delightful little guy is Marcus, a 5+ years old Yorkshire Terrier. You’d never guess that he first came to the shelter covered in fleas and mats and generally not in a very good condition.

As you can see from the photos, Marcus is much more comfortable now, thanks to grooming provided by Dog Stylists. Can you tell he enjoyed his walk and is grinning from ear to ear?

He has a way to go before he can be completely healthy– he’s overweight, though that shouldn’t be very hard to treat– he LOVES his walks. He waddles adorably, and you can sense his enthusiasm while he tries to run and romp around.

Marcus also enjoys bonding with people- you can tell which volunteer is his favorite, because then his lower half of the body starts shaking side-to side (he has almost no tail, so he moves his rump instead).

He is food motivated and already knows ‘sit,’ and I don’t think he would mind learning new tricks.

He also appears to know ‘down’ too, but he may just have been a wee bit tired 🙂 I doubt he’ll be a very high-energy dog, and he would be great for folks who love dogs but are looking for something a little low-key.

If you are interested in adopting this fine gentleman, please come see him in Kennel 7. For more information, please email doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
