Featured Dog: Finola – GBNF

This sweet girl is Finola, a brindle Plott Hound mix. (If you don’t know what a Plott Hound is, here’s a wiki. The breed is also NC’s official state dog.) She’s about 1 1/2-2 years old.

She’s very food motivated and knows her ‘sit’ like a pro, and would love to take obedience classes if it means more treats for her!

One remarkable thing about Finola is that she really loves meeting people. Her tail wags very rapidly when she sees anyone, and she really wants to go up to them and ask if they love her, too. It’s rather endearing and cute, but be prepared to talk to a lot of people if you walk her!

You’d think that given her attitude towards people, she would be welcoming to other dogs. On the contrary! She’s been described as “picky” towards other dogs, and would be best as an only dog. I concur, because I think she must’ve had a hard life- lots of puppies, very little human attention (maybe that’s why she likes people so much), and probably lots of competition with other dogs.

Finola is a very sweet girl who has lots of love to give and just wants a home (with maybe many humans to choose from!) where she can be spoiled. I can imagine her being a very happy family dog.

If you are interested in Finola, please come visit her in Kennel 36.

Do you know what else she is mixed with? I have a dog that is the spitting image of finola. And her name is fiona! I have no clue what she is, but I’m slowly finding out.

My dogs look the same as well. They are girls and most people think they are pit bulls. Now that I see yours, I am thinking they are Plotts. They are brindle with white on their chest. They also have webbed feet. I absolutely love your Fiona! What a sweet breed:)
Any housebreaking suggestions? My girls are 4mo and still have accidents.
