Featured Dog: Shania – GBNF

This is Shania, a very pretty foxhound mix who’s about 1-1 1/2 years old. She has quite a history-  she came into the shelter very thin and probably neglected, and she’s been working on her confidence (and weight) since.

Truthfully, she is not the easiest dog to know, because she can be very wary of new people and situations. She doesn’t have a problem walking, though she is not interested in toys. She reminds me of a very dignified lady who likes her daily routine of long walks, tea, and a nice book by the fireplace (okay, maybe not the last two). She wouldn’t be out of place in a garden- she doesn’t seem to be the digging type.

She is very food motivated, and already knows ‘sit,’ so she shouldn’t be difficult to train.

She is also very attentive, as you can tell in the photos.

This was my first time walking her, but when she saw a volunteer who had walked her several times, Shania greeted her enthusiastically.  I think this is a dog who is definitely more of a relationship builder and who likes a very stable life.

If you are looking for an older, calm dog who does not need much other than lots of time and love, please come visit Shania in Kennel 19.
