Puppy Friday: George – ADOPTED!

Meet George, a 3 months old collie mix. If you’re blinking, you may have seen his sister, Gemma.

George is a little bit more shy than his sister- he is not fond of hands petting him from above- but he warms up very nicely when you offer treats and he decides that you are just harmless after all.

He is very food motivated, and sits very well. He’d love to go to puppy school to improve his confidence and to learn new tricks. Mostly, though, he just needs a nice home where he’ll be adored and a bit pampered.

This one time I was working with George, and in an effort to get him used to people, I lured him (with treats) to my lap. He plopped, sighed happily, and when I started rubbing his belly, his tail went thumping against my knee rhythmically: THUMP-THUMP-THUMP. When he reached a state of puppy nirvana, his tail would slow down noticeably, and he’d be still.

If you are interested in George, please come visit him in Kennel 1. For more information on George, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
