Featured Dog: Petunia – ADOPTED!

(Forgive me if all the photos look more or less the same- it was raining that day and the only shelter we got was under a canopy of trees!)

Meet Petunia, a lab/whippet mix who’s under a year old. While she’s still a little shy about new situations, she warms up nicely when there are treats and kind words offered.

She’s extremely attentive and food motivated- she sat several times while we were walking without being asked.

She’s also starting to explore affection. Right now, she loves to jump up to your face for kisses, and I’m trying to teach her to kiss only when I move my face down, so that the jumping will not be necessary in the future. She also loves to be hugged (she will put her paws on your waist).

All Petunia needs is a bit of time (and probably obedience school- she’d do really well and be very fun to train). Once she’s comfortable and settled in, Petunia will probably be a very loving and playful dog (she does like toys). She is a little unsure around other dogs, so she would probably be best as an only dog or be with a calm, older canine role model.

If you are interested in her, please come visit Petunia in Kennel 2. For more information on Petunia, please contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org or leave a comment below.
