This beautiful black lab mix is Ashlyn, who’s about 8-9 months old. I’m hoping she’s mostly fullgrown because she’s quite big!
However, if you are of the labrador retriever-loving variety, and of the belief that bigger is better, Ashlyn is your girl!
True to her labrador heritage, Ashlyn is very friendly and affectionate and people-oriented.
She loves food treats, and is very food motivated.
In fact, she already knows ‘sit.’
Licking her chops in anticipation…
Seriously paying attention…
And a happy smile at the end!
Oh, but that’s not all Ashlyn knows! She also does a very nice ‘down.’ In fact, I found out that she really liked biscuits, which are obviously better eaten in the ‘down’ position.
Ashlyn was so happy about the biscuits and we ended up having a nice petting session, including bellyrubs!
I think this is her preferred position- maybe she’ll make a good couch dog? 🙂
Ashlyn also LOVES her toys- she likes to play a game of fetch, but mostly, she likes chewing on stuffed toys.
Sometimes I think she’s aiming for a world record of the shortest time she can silence the squeaker.
She didn’t succeed but oh well, she had a good time. (Ashlyn: I will conquer that toy NEXT time!)
Ashlyn also gets along with other dogs, and would love to play with them. We passed another dog who was also playful and both dogs went into a play-bow stance almost immediately.
Doesn’t Ashlyn look like the kind of dog that would be fun to relax with at the end of the day?
Looking at this photo, I think Ashlyn would be the kind of dog who would be happy with a consistent routine of exercise (walks or runs), obedience classes (she would pass with flying colors), occasional dog dates, walking around town, and chilling out with her humanfolks.
If this sounds like your ideal dog, please come see Ashlyn at the shelter- she’ll be waiting for you.
