Featured Dog: Dermot – ADOPTED!

Dermot

If you don’t think old dogs have soul, you should really meet Dermot. He’s such a perfect gentleman (even when he’s not being gentlemanly), and you can see that despite his earnest look, he’s still got years of mischief and fun in his eyes.

Dermot

Dermot is only 4 years old, believe it or not, and he seems to be a beagle mix, but bigger than a normal beagle.

Dermot

Perhaps because of his age, Dermot is remarkably calm, with controlled bursts of energy. He is very food motivated, though, and loves to come to you when you have treats to offer him. He’s very focused that way- and just might disprove the saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”

Dermot

Other than that, Dermot is a pleasure to be with. He doesn’t really need much, just a walk and food and treats and endless hours of petting his long, silky ears. And when he’s happy, you can really tell from his big smile.

Dermot

See? He’s wagging his tail below, like a lot of the puppies I photographed recently. Dermot gets along with other dogs, though he probably wouldn’t mind being the only dog (more attention for him!).

Mr. Dermot looks like he is tailor made for me. I had a beagle, Odette my Pet, but unfortunately my husband got her in the divorce. I have hated him for that and probably always will. But now I have a chance to make myself happy and rescue a beagle. I never knew how stubborn beagles could be, had no clue, but I trained Odette to sit, stand, beg, dance around in a pink tutu I made her, (I know) and have pictures of her more in this apartment than of my family. I have the means ($) and want it now! For the Dermot and for Barbara. Kisses and Love. I will be there tomorrow. (Monday 7/18/11
